Family Camp
Earlier today, Andy and I were making some notes on a “Joy List“; a little list my friend Corrie introduced me to a few years ago. The idea is that you keep the things that bring you joy on your list, and you keep the list somewhere nearby, so that as you read your list and you notice life is bumpy and you are not feeling joyful, you pick one or more of the items on your list and you make sure these are the things you are doing regularly as you are “doing life.” We often let life get mundane and bogged down with work and our “to dos” that aren’t that much fun. The Joy List is a constant reminder that if we do the things we love, we will love the life we live. I HIGHLY encourage everyone to have a Joy List!
“Why do I mention this Joy List?” you may wonder. Because, as we were updating our lists, I wanted to be sure to add Young Life Camping. Our family just returned from Frontier Ranch, a Young Life camp in Buena Vista (where I once thought I would be employed, but that’s another story!) Andy was part of the weekend’s program team, so he was busy running (read: hobbling) around for quite a bit of camp, but even with the work component, it was such a life-giving and joy-producing weekend for all three of us. Hooray!
Here are some highlights! And by the way, what’s on your Joy List???
