Doodlebug!!!

So, Mama’s been a little (lot) behind on updating our lil family bloggity blog. But good news, you are ONE YEAR OLD!!! Ohmygoodness you are just the most FUN little kiddo! You have started to master your walking so well, you’re even running sometimes. You love to be read to, Brown Bear and Goodnight Gorrilla are a couple of your favorites. You love your little singing teapot, and when it plays music you bob your head and dance around. It’s the cutest. You do this thing when you or someone around you poots- you open your mouth really wide and your eyes look shocked and you have this surprised face and then you giggle. It’s awesome.

You had a few birthday parties this year- you had one on your birthday with the girls’ group where you ate chocolate chip cookies, one with Anna at church with a ladybug theme (mama made some pretty awesome ladybug cupcakes I must add!), and then one with the kids at Young Life Club. You were really celebrated!!! Here are some of the highlights and we hope you know that a year with you has been the best year ever!

Oh sweet baby girl! You have been into everything!!! Walking, talking, smiling, giggling, fussing (a little, let’s be honest), and mostly just being the unique, fun, beautiful little girl that you are. Lately you have an intense love for books! You want us to read them to you over and over and over. (Although we rarely get past page 3 before you go grab another one!) Your dad put you in a cape (dishtowel) so you could play superhero- you’re getting the idea!? I caught you trying to put on your pink boots the other day, so I decided to give you a hand. Here are just a few of you lately.

Eleven Months

Hey sweet baby girl!!!

I can hardly express just how precious you are. You are a walking champ. And you haven’t lost one bit of your appetite! You ate white chicken chili last night and LOVED it. (Mama gave you mostly beans because your Daddy made it pretty spicy.) You are uninterested with videos, although you did scream quite a bit at a video on the laptop with Asher in the tub! We miss you Asher!!

Just you and I went on a little 3 day trip to California! It was sunny and nice, and you got to meet all of mama’s grad school friends. We had a party so they all could meet you, and you really hammed it up! With your purple polka dotted tights and your pink boots, you strutted around and danced. It was SO much fun!

You are just a barrel of monkeys- watching you walk around and wave your arms in the air, it makes me giggle EVERY TIME! You have about a gabillion expressions, each of them expressing something unique but all are hilarious. Today you dove into the bathtub to get to the toys- it scared me because I had no idea you could do that, but guess what? You loved it. Yesterday, we went for a little family walk on Main street. You held both of our hands as we walked, stopping to pet every dog, of course! You love dogs. It was a fun new experience for us. You make life even more enjoyable sweet girl!!!

You are such a big girl, and we are having a blast watching you grow!!!

After Two Years (con’t)

Fall is the BEST. Last year we got jipped because we left for Andy to perform a wedding just as the leaves were beginning to turn, and when we returned the leaves were already brown because of a freeze! BOO SHORT FALL!!!

This year was just the opposite! YEEHAW Momma! It was a long and amazing fall. I can’t remember ever being in a prettier place full of such COLOR. The photos really don’t do it justice, but it will give you a glimpse of what you can see in Telluride in the Fall. If you are not a huge snowbird, I suggest a Telluride visit in the Fall- specifically late September. It’s amazing!

After Two Years

After living in Telluride for two years, it finally feels more like “home.” It’s pretty funny how people can be so proud of the state/region they came from, yet completely never want to live there again. Exhibit A: Andy. He proudly boasts, “Yeah, I’m from Atlanta.” But I’ve heard him say on more than one occasion, “I will NEVER live there again! Atlanta is too crowded and too hot!” (Sidenote: It is amazing how you get “used to” the weather where you live. I went for a quick jog in 20ish degree weather this morning and wasn’t bothered a bit. Well, my face was a little cold!)

Anyway, Telluride is truly one of the most beautiful places in the country, so I thought I’d begin to share some images from these here parts. I hope you’ll enjoy them and I hope I’ll keep posting more. It’s an amazing place and believe me, here, 20 is not that cold.

Ten Months

Lawdy have mercy! I tell you what, as we creep up on a year, babygirl, I cannot tell you all the changes you’ve started spittin’ at us like wildfire! And what a FUN ride it’s been!? You’re up to about 5 – 6 steps these days. I think today a little lightbulb went off inside you as you realized, “Hm, I think I CAN walk over to Mama!” And you did. You will talk all the way through town anywhere we’re going. Jabber Jabber Jabber. Love it.

You have the most hilarious faces! Of course, there’s the scrunch face which is almost always accompanied by a SNORT. Love it. You love all the noises of your toys. You can be left in your crib for a nap and you’ll just lay right down until you drift off. Thank you sososososo much! You recognize all your favorite people- even voices on speakerphone get you going. You point at what you want and you always sign “all done” at the end of every meal. You still eat like a champ.

Finally, you are going to a real live babysitter 9 or 10 hours a each week. This week is our first, so we’ll let you know how it goes, but so far so good!!! We cannot wait until your first birthday, and just today your daddy and I were talking about our big plans for it! We are so excited sweet thing. You are just a delight and we love you. To the moon and back.

Nine Months

Babygirl! You are NINE MONTHS this week. We are so delighted with you. You have such a fantastic personality; you love to clap, you smile and smile when we come get you in the morning, you wave on the street at strangers (and let me tell you, it MAKES THEIR DAY!), you love opening cabinets and drawers, you can stand on your own for a minute or so, you point at what you want, and you’re just cute as a button!

We love you so much. Nine months has been the most FUN age yet, Butterbean, and it just keeps getting better.

Eight Months

We’ve spent the past few days together, just you and me, kiddo. It’s been really nice but man, it’s some work! Your daddy had to go to Dallas for some work stuff, and it’s just been mama and bean doing everything together. Tonight I was rocking you as you drifted off to sleep (in about .0005 seconds) and I was thinking, you’ll never remember these days, but I will. How will you ever know about the time we spent together unless I remember to tell you years down the road? You wouldn’t know about the countless hours you hold my hands so you can stand. You would have no idea about all our time on the floor playing with your cell phone, your bag of groceries, your rattles, eating cheerios and drinking juice from your sippy. You’d never know about the countless miles we’ve traveled in the ergo. You’d never know how many times a day you crawl up to my legs and want mama to pick you up. Or how we walk all around town again and again and go to story time at the library. You LOVE being outside and you LOVE watching all the kids at story time. But you’ll never remember it. It’s so weird to think about it!!

I want you to know about these times. I want you to know how much we laugh all day. I want you to know how you fuss and I pick you up and hug and squeeze you tight. I want you to know that today as you cruised around the coffee table, you fell and cried, I picked you up and kissed you until it didn’t hurt anymore.

You have amazed me this week. You crawled across the room, learned to pull up on just about everything, I even found you standing in your pac n’ play! You worked your way to a cabinet and I watched as in about five minutes you figured out how to open the door and take something out without falling once. Your daddy and I played with you on the floor as you stood holding on to NOTHING for about 30 seconds. He also took you through the car wash for the first time while you sat in his lap. He calls you his “little buddy” and explains just about everything in the world to you. You love to scream and laugh. Your personality is really beginning to blossom. You’re such a sweet girl and we feel like we’re so blessed to be your mama and daddy. We love you precious girl!

Seven Months

Ok, so we’re a week late with this one… can’t you see that Mama is BUSY!!! With the YL fundraiser, working with the radio station, the newspaper, the printers, the t-shirt company, trying to run YL Club, leaders meetings, committee meetings, homecoming festivities and sporting events, hanging with kids, playing tennis twice a week, managing my blogs, and sticking in a photo shoot here and there… WAIT! And there’s a BABY!? Who’s looking after her? Luckily she’s super smart and she looks after herself. You can probably tell in these seven months photos. Oh, and did I mention we’re packing for Mexico??? Arrrrrreeebah!!!
